Three asset groups reached end-of-life at the same time. One Compliance Offset engagement covered secure retirement of ~4,500 Chromebooks while still producing a generous net buyout payment to the district.
Mid-sized PA K-12 District (identifying details redacted)
Download Full Case Study (PDF)Three asset groups had reached end-of-life at the same time across a multi-building district: Dell 7420 2-in-1 staff laptops and student iPads with residual resale value, plus roughly 4,500 Dell Chromebook 3100s pulled from classroom rotation for retirement. The district wanted one vendor and one closeout - not parallel processes for resale, recycling, sanitization, and reporting. All three groups required secure handling due to potential FERPA-relevant student or district data.
arcITAD scoped the work as a Compliance Offset. We priced the value-recovery devices at intake by model and condition, building by building. Pickups were coordinated across 7 district buildings with full chain-of-custody documentation. NIST SP 800-88-aligned sanitization was performed per device - Blancco for laptops, Phonecheck-supported processing for tablets and Chromebooks. Each school was scoped, processed, and settled individually. The buyouts on staff laptops and iPads covered the full cost of retiring the Chromebook fleet - and still produced a generous net payment to the district.
