How ITAD Pricing Works

ITAD pricing depends on asset value, labor, logistics, reporting, data security and downstream recycling requirements.

Three project outcomes, not one price list

ITAD projects do not have a single price because the economics depend entirely on what you have, where it is and what you need documented.

Some projects produce a customer payout. When resale value on eligible assets exceeds the cost of processing, logistics and reporting, arcITAD issues a buyout payment or value recovery credit.
Some projects become no-cost or reduced-cost after value recovery credits. Mixed lots — where some assets have value and others do not — often net to zero or near-zero cost after offsetting.
Some projects require paid processing. Low-value, no-value or costly-to-recycle assets may require paid handling. This keeps projects honest rather than pretending every asset is profitable.

Factors that affect ITAD pricing

Every quote arcITAD produces accounts for the following factors. Understanding them helps set realistic expectations before a project is scoped.

Asset type and market value

Laptops, servers, phones and networking gear each carry different resale markets. Higher-demand assets may produce value recovery; low-demand or obsolete assets may not.

Quantity and condition

Larger volumes and better-condition assets generally produce stronger value recovery. Mixed lots with heavy wear or damage are evaluated on net recoverable value.

Data-bearing media

Assets with drives, SSDs or flash storage require documented sanitization. The method — logical erasure, degaussing or physical destruction — affects cost and documentation scope.

Reporting level

Serialized inventory, certificates of erasure, chain-of-custody documentation and financial closeout summaries each add scope. Projects that require more documentation require more time.

Pickup, shipping and freight

Location, volume and whether assets need onsite pickup, managed shipping or customer freight affects logistics cost. Larger local projects may qualify for scheduled pickup.

Special handling requirements

Assets requiring extra care — fragile items, regulated waste, batteries, CRTs or items with access restrictions — may require additional handling or disposal steps.

Downstream recycling costs

Not all assets have resale value. Items routed to responsible recycling may carry disposal costs that offset or exceed value recovery on the same project.

Timeline and rush requirements

Standard turnaround is built around project volume. Compressed timelines or facilities with scheduling constraints may affect logistics planning and cost.
